History of Transportation
These past 5,000 years we have ridden horses with very little changes overall in transportation. In the past 190 years we went from the world-wide adoption of the first steam locomotives, to electric and gasoline automobiles, to now converting our existing transportation industry to all electric as we approach the future of Advanced Air Mobility. In the next 10 years we are set to embrace electric delivery drones and helicopters for urban mobility, that eventually will give way to tomorrow’s Sky-Uber.

TIMELINE
1485-1500: Designs of flying machines and parachute (Leonardo Da Vinci)
1783: First free aerial voyage in a hot-air balloon (Montgolfier – Rozier & d’Arlandes))
1830: First steam train lost a race against a horse. (Tom Thumb) the first steam engine, averaged a speed of 13 mph … the horse’s average gallop was about 25 MPH. Transportation industry world-wide.
1903: First flight, 120 feet, in 12 seconds, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina (Wright Brothers)
1907: First electric car available for purchase and production (Thomas Edison)
1908: Model-T goes in to mass production and replaces (Henry Ford). Transportation industry shifts from horses and trains to automobiles and aviation.
2007: Electric cars were plugging in to a handful of EV’s at a few remote dedicated electrical outlets (Porsche) it took 10-30 HOURS to charge for 45 miles
2022: Advanced Air Mobility AAM, also known as Urban Air Mobility (UAM), is developing electric vertical take-off landing eVTOL championed by the FAA, EASA, and NASA.
